News: UK Court Bans R4 Device

The R4 device, which allows gamers to play downloaded games, has been banned in the UK.
The R4 cartridge device has always lived in a grey area - its claimed usage was to allow gamers to play unofficial content on DS systems, although the majority of its actual usage was to allow the playing of illegally copied and downloaded games.
While the defendants, Playables Limited, asserted the 'homebrew' argument, the London High Court have chosen to rule against the device. Selling, importing or advertising devices which allow for copied games to be played are now considered illegal in the UK.
With their software profits constantly hit by DS game piracy, Nintendo have responded to the decision by saying it was a victory for "over 1,400 video game-development companies that depend on legitimate sales of games for their survival."
