News: UK Sees Easter Wii Sales Spike

The Easter period sees the Wii leap to become the top-selling next-gen console, with over 25,000 units sold last week alone.

The Easter holidays are traditionally a time when sales are up, and reflecting this Nintendo enjoyed its third highest weekly amount of Wiis sold since the console's launch last December. Available stock is still lagging behind demand, with a Nintendo spokesman confirming that "everything we are shipping, we are selling."

Last week saw more stock than usual filter through to retailers, which helped the sale of over 25,000 Wiis. In comparison, 17,000 PlayStation 3 consoles were sold, while the Xbox 360 managed 11,000 Xbox 360 units in the same period.
