News: UK Surpasses One Million DS Sold

Less than twelve months on and the United Kingdom alone has now sold over one million units of the DS!

Ah, the UK. Home to England, the Queen, afternoon tea... and now over one million DS units as well. Throughout the United Kingdom (that's England, Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland for the unenlightened) the dual-screened handheld hasn't been doing too badly over the last few months.

Back in August, we reported that Nintendo wanted to sell this amount by the end of 2005, and it looks like they've suceeded. So much so, unfortunately, that Nintendo is having to deal with some shops literally out of stock of the devices.

Taking Europe as a whole, the DS has now sold over three and half million units since its March 2005 release, pushing worldwide sales above the 13 million mark. Sales have been boosted by games such as Nintendogs (1.6 million copies sold in Europe) and Mario Kart DS (800,000 copes sold in Europe). More as we get it!
