News: UK to See Red with New Advertising Campaign

Nintendo UK has outlined its advertising plans for the new red 3DS and upcoming Mario titles.

With last week's launch of the Metallic Red Nintendo 3DS the UK is about to be painted red as Nintendo make sure everyone knows that the new colour has arrived.

Outlining their advertising plans to MCV, Nintendo has stated that over 6,000 locations across the UK will be painted red with a range of six-sheet and 48-sheet posters being rolled out. Two digital screen towers on the A4 at Hammersmith will also display the advertisement. Nintendo's Zoe Cooper commented on the campaign:

"The launch of the Metallic Red 3DS will be supported by a large scale nationwide outdoor campaign, painting the streets red for this great new hardware launch. Metallic Red 3DS brings with it all the amazing features of the all new handheld console the Nintendo 3DS, but in a hot new colour that will appeal to all. It's another great reason for existing DS owners to purchase the next generation in handheld gaming the Nintendo 3DS."

Of course Nintendo's mascot is also partial to the colour red and with two new Mario games coming out later in the year Nintendo is already planning how to celebrate. Super Mario 3D Land will be given a huge TV presence ahead of its November 18th release, with a separate advertising campaign for children.

Details on Mario Kart 7's advertising campaign have not been announced but Super Pokémon Rumble will once again see One Direction promoting the series while Professor Layton and the Spectre's Call will target women over 35. Highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will also see a dedicated TV and online advertising campaign ahead of its release on November 18th.
