News: US June Hardware & Software Charts

The DS and Wii come out on top yet again, as the GBA embarrassingly beats the PS3, once more.

For not the first time after monthly US sales figures (provided by NPD) have been revealed, Sony execs must be worried. Nintendo's GameBoy Advance - technology dating back to 2001 - beating the shiny new PlayStation 3? Not to mention the Wii breaking the 3 million barrier and only being beaten in sales this month by the continued meteoric sales of the DS...

The June US hardware chart is as follows:

  • 1. Nintendo DS - 561,900
  • 2. Wii - 381,800
  • 3. PlayStation Portable - 290,108
  • 4. PlayStation 2 - 270,000
  • 5. Xbox 360 - 198,400
  • 6. Game Boy Advance - 109,426
  • 7. Playstation 3 - 98,500

Helping the rosy Nintendo hardware figures were massive sales of Mario Party 8 as well as continued strong sales of Wii Play and the latest duo of Pokémon titles. It's worth noting that the Wii edition of Resident Evil 4 was released at the end of the month, so will likely feature higher in next month's chart.
