News: Violent Video Games Are Bad!

Ok, so you're thinking 'Seen one Violent Video Games news article you've seen 'em all'? Well as you'll soon find out, not quite...

VLADIVOSTOK, March 5 (Itar-Tass) -- The Russian Far Eastern port of Nakhodka banned "militarized and arcade" computer games in salons as they "provoke aggressive and merciless behavior of children".

The instruction issued by the city administration also limits the operating hours of computer salons and fixes the maximum playtime for kids of different age.

Thus a 6-year old child can play only for 10 minutes, while a teenager for not more than half an hour.

Nakhodka Mayor Viktor Gnezdilov set up a special commission that would control the compliance with the instruction. It comprised members of the city administration, sanitary service, firemen and police officers.

Only 30mins? THAT is the hit of the fruit, as a great man once said.. Before you all begin complaining to your local Russian MP's bear this in mind; this is a time limit on arcades, and to be fair you're not often on one machine for half an hour...

But then surely limiting exposure to "militarized and arcade" computer games will just mean that it'll take longer for children to become aggressive and merciless KILLING MACHI-- er... Children... Or something...
