News: Virtua Fighter Cyber Generation

Virtua Fighter Cyber Generation is the new name for Virtua Fighter Quest. Find out more details inside.

Virtua Fighter Cyber Generation: Ambition of the Judgement Six, to give the game its full name, is to be launched on the PS2 and GameCube in the summer of 2004.

The game is an Action-RPG, instead of the usual fighting game. However street fights will be included but they will be 3rd person. The story will tell back story of the series as well as two of the main characters.

The story begins in Acropolis, a floating city in the near future. Acropolis was created to mine gold and consists of one main island and six surrounding islands. As well as schools, hospitals and other normal institutions the residents have built Nexus to provide a virtual reality version of the real world.

Nexus became a part of every day life for the residents, and lost treasures started appearing in the network due to neglect. This has then lead to Treasure Hunters in the Nexus.

You play as a stubborn fourteen-year old male Treasure Hunter called Sei. He lives with his father on Acropolis, who was a software engineer and worked on Nexus.

Toka, a fifteen year old girl is also in the game. She seems to hate her no-good father and brother. Not much else is known on her.

The Judgement 6 is a group that was formed by six of the world's big industries, and Sei accidentally gets involved with them. The J6 have great control over politics and the running of Acropolis, unknown to its residents.

The main managers of J6 are:

  • Judgement: Overall charge of the J6
  • The Devil: Development of normal weapons
  • Wheel of Fortune: Control of world politics
  • The Moon: In charge of terror and battle plans
  • The Tower: Watches over the entire J6 organization
  • Death: Nuclear and biological weapons development

Sei and the J6 are looking for Virtua Souls, which have been lost in Nexus. The Virtua Souls are bits of data that come from legendary fighters and is believed to be able to Nexus' security constraints.

In the game you collect these Virtua Souls, which are data of Virtua Fighter characters, and how you use them.

The game is similar to 'Final Fight' and allows combos to be used in battles, of up to twelve moves. Virtua Souls can be used with X, Y and Z and perform moves from characters in the Virtua Fighter series. The moves are assigned to the buttons. At least fifty Virtua Souls will be in the final game.

You can also jump, latch onto things and use an electro plasma of some sort. You can latch onto markers in the world and pull yourself closer to them. You can also latch onto enemies to create combos.

Points are used in the game to restore health and buy upgrades in shops, and can be obtained by fighting and destroying parts of the world. You can fill up stats, such as levels and experience during the game.
