News: Warren Spector Discusses Epic Mickey's Sales

Epic Mickey's director Warren Spector discusses the title's reception, camera issues and whether or not a port will be released.

Junction Point's Epic Mickey had a lot to live up to when it was released last year and while it has received mixed responses Warren Spector seems pleased with how it turned out. Speaking to Gameinformer Mr. Spector states that the music, storyline and the feeling of the game all worked for him on a personal level. However, he notes that the paint and thinner mechanic could be improved upon.

Warren Spector argues that while some people have had problems with the title's camera the company did the best they could and feels it is unfair to be compared to Mario games as their cameras have a fixed point of focus, whereas Epic Mickey does not due to the mix of platforming and action/adventure. He also addresses a common complaint he has received:

Oh, and one more thing we've been knocked by some folks for not including a lock-on camera mode, which would have made combat easier. Those folks are right which is why we did include a lock-on camera mode. Try it, you might like it, folks!

When asked about the possibility of porting the title onto the Xbox 360 or Sony PlayStation 3 Mr. Spector states, "there's no reason why we couldn't put Disney Epic Mickey on other platforms. However, we're not working on it at this time." He also reiterated his desire to work on a Duck Tales game and a game based on the Gremlins in Epic Mickey.

The interview also discusses Warren Spector's opinions on the success of the game, what he would change and many other things so do check it out.
