Are you in or near London next Wednesday and fancy watching the Professor Layton movie for free?
While Eiji Aonuma has been dreaming about a Zelda movie Level-5 actually went and made one about their most popular franchise - Professor Layton. Released in Japan in 2009 Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva sees the gentlemanly Professor Layton and his assistant Luke help out one of the Professor's former students get to the bottom of a mystery. Dean reviewed the film for us last year and noted how the animation is "astonishing" and called it a "perfect film adaptation".
As part of their animation season the Barbican is showing the film next Wednesday. The screening will actually be an open air screening at Canary Wharf, rather than the Barbican itself, and it begins at 6:30pm. More information can be found on the Canary Wharf website. Fans of anime may also want to note that there are two other acclaimed films being shown next week. These are The Girl Who Leapt Through Time on Tuesday 2nd August and Summer Wars on Thursday 4th August.
Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva is available to purchase on Blu-Ray and DVD but if you're in the area it will be worth checking it out on the big screen. If you've already watched the film be sure to let us know what you think of the film below.
