News: Watsham Calls On Gamers Seeking Originality

Renegade Kid's Jools Watsham calls upon DS owners wanting more original titles, and calls out publishers unwilling to take risks...
If there's one thing we bemoan above all else in this occasionally immature-seeming industry, it's that games from developers such as Renegade Kid do not nearly achieve the success they deserve. A very common occurance is that publishers do not seem to commit to, and subsequently do not fully market titles like Dementium: The Ward and Moon. It's subsequently a ridiculous sight to see publishers lament the state of DS and Wii software when gamers remain ignorant of such original titles due to a lack of responsibility from those very companies.
It's understandable then that small developers like Renegade Kid are not happy to see their games largely ignored by a gaming population who themselves are victims of marketing neglect from corporations unwilling to take risks. Company founder Jools Watsham has personally called upon the gaming population to voice their determination to secure the future of original IPs on DS.
If you're still uncertain of the capability of smaller developers to produce quality games for the core gamer, you can check out our very fond review of Renegade Kid's Moon here. The developer's Dracula-themed Wii game Son of the Dragon was cancelled due to lack of publisher interest, which it later transpired was down to worry that it would not sell sufficiently.

So what say you, N-Europeans? Are you ready to tell publishers you're hungry for originality?
