N-Europe analyses the latest weekly sales figures for Japan and America�

Team N-Europe has decided it's time to bring back the weekly hardware and software charts by popular demand! From now on we'll be giving you in-depth analysis of Japanese and American sales, all in one big update. Without further ado, here are the sales figures for the week ending 17 May.

United States of America

With Grand Theft Auto IV on the X360 still going strong after its 29 April release, it's nice to see Mario Kart Wii in second place. In spite of this, the Wii has still come out on top of the software totals with 1,192,005 units sold compared to the second place X360's 1,186,362. It's also the best-selling console in the United States of A.

Japan

Meanwhile it's the PSP taking the lead in Japan with Capcom's Monster Hunter Freedom 2nd G selling only a paltry 50,797 units. Once more in second place is Kart trailing behind by little over 300 units.
