Nintendo is launching a "Where's DK? Search Event" - find the ape and Nintendo donates a dollar to the Animal Protection Institute!
In celebration of the release of Donkey Kong Country 3 for the Game Boy Advance stateside, Nintendo is hosting a "Where's DK? Search Event", which will run from now until November 21. Those interested in participating need to follow clues found at www.whereisdonkeykong.com. By doing so, participants will uncover DK's mysterious whereabouts while earning donations towards a chimp-friendly charity.
Nintendo will be donating a dollar to the Animal Protection Institute's Primate Sanctuary for every person who can actually manage to locate Donkey Kong - which you'll be doing by playing simulations of games, for example the bongo-enabled Jungle Beat.
For people unaware of what the Animal Protection Institute is, the API is a national animal-advocacy group, whose mission is to provide nonhuman primates a high quality of life with as little human interference as possible. Their 186-acre sanctuary, located near San Antonio, Texas, is currently home to more than 400 primates, many of whom were rescued from abusive or exploitative situations.
Donkey Kong Country 3's plot is that Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong have been kidnapped and players must help Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong find them. Players run, roll, hop and swing through enemy-infested stages to locate Donkey and Diddy. Players can catch rides on new and familiar animal pals as they explore nine worlds of adventure. Multiple mini-games and six new levels make this game shine.
