News: Wifi Connection Details Set For October

Iwata promises details on Nintendo's free network gaming service to come in October...

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, in his now (in?)famous keynote address to an assembled TGS group of industry insiders and press, spoke on a good number of relevant topics (a controller was shown, or so I hear.) However, one area he did not really elaborate on was further details regarding Nintendo's looming WiFi Connection service. The service, set to go live worldwide in November (corresponding with the releases of pending DS online-enabled blockbusters Mario Kart and Tony Hawk's "American Sk8land"), promises to offer the means whereby gamers can play with and against each other worldwide, wirelessly and for free.

That announcement is scheduled for another day. That day will apparently be coming in October as Mr. Iwata verified in his speech that he had plenty of details to cover, but that it would be saved for a more fortuitous occasion. With TGS given over to the Revolution controller, perhaps it is for the best. Regardless, concrete details laying out exactly how you and I will be getting our online kart matches going is yet right around the corner. Be assured R-E will be there with the details as they break.
