News: Wii $250 Price Cap

No official price revealed yet, but we've more reassurements that it'll be thoroughly affordable.

It wasn't unexpected, but we're pleased nonetheless. Today, in their annual financial report, Nintendo revealed that the Wii would not be sold on launch day for more than $250 in America, or 25,000 in Japan. We can expect the predicted $200-$250 price tag then, and although nothing was mentioned about Europe, a similar price in Euros is expected. This would mean we Brits would pay 200; probably lower.

Other announcements in the report were that the company expects to ship an ambitious 6 million Wii systems, and achieve 17 million in software sales, by the end of this fiscal year; and increase their global sales by 18 percent, buoyed by the Wii launches and an increasingly popular DS.

Exact details were, as ever, not provided. When we know, you'll know.
