Final Fantasy CC: Echoes of Time (Wii)

News: Wii/DS Online Final Fantasy Announced

Square Enix today announced an all new Final Fantasy game bearing the Crystal Chronicles brand - in the first true online Wii/DS project.

RPG gods, Square Enix haven't been known for their bolstered Wii support thus far, and we have a feeling this title may not do much to sway certain perceptions. But they've gone ahead and unveiled Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time. The game will be available on both Wii and DS, and is specifically designed to work cross-platform online via the new Pollux Engine. So whether you prefer stylus-based swordplay, or waggled-enhanced witchcraft, Square has you covered.

The game will also intergrate the use of Miis for characters (which are also transferable to the DS version), but still maintains a heavy focus on the story - so it's classic Final Fantasy this far on. Details are sketchy, and all we know at the moment is that the main protagonist is a young girl named Charlotta, and that everything ties into a mysterious crystal.

Interestingly (and sadly), there's still no word at all on FF:CC: Crystal Bearers (that title is colon-hell), although the upcoming Tokyo Game Show could change things in this respect.

Keep it locked to N-E as we learn more about all thing Final Fantasy!
