News: Wii is THQ's Most Profitable Console

THQ has released some new figures that show they make most of their profits from the Nintendo Wii.

With franchises such as De Blob, WWE Smackdown vs Raw and Saints Row THQ certainly has a broad range of titles available for all consoles. However, GamesRadar reports that when it comes to profits THQ are primarily relying on the Nintendo Wii.

The PS3 is THQ's least profitable console, accounting for $12 million revenue, while the Xbox 360 didn't account for much more at only $14 million. The DS favoured a bit better and accounted for $17 million for THQ.

It was clear, however, that the Wii has been the most profitable console for the company. The Wii earned $34 million in revenue in the last quarter even if it does tend to be relegated with 'shovelware' titles such as World of Zoo, Barbie Groom and Glam Pups and The Biggest Loser.

The company also reported losses of $47 million in their recent quarterly report. THQ CEO Brian Farrell spoke about the report and claimed that the company is in a transition period at present, hence the poor sales.

"Our December quarter will be led by WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2011 and our new uDraw GameTablet. Key releases for our March quarter include our new core game franchise Homefront as well as WWE All Stars, UFC Personal Trainer and De Blob 2."
