News: Wii Launches In Korea

After worldwide release 17 months ago, the Wii gets set to hit Korea rather soon...

Korea and China will finally be able to purchase a Wii later this month, after its original worldwide debut back in 2006. The console is set to launch on April 26th.

A worry for Nintendo which has been apparent for a long time, is the country's software piracy problem. Even before the date was announced for Korea, stores already had imported Wii's with a special chip for customers to play duplicated game CDs. Although no-one can tell how popular the Wii will become, it's worth noting that since January 2007, 1.4 million legal DS's have been sold.
