Anyone watching the Oscars ceremony last night will have noticed a certain console making a cheeky appearance...

As far as award ceremonies go, the Oscars is the undisputed daddy of them all. What better event to slip in a bit of subliminal advertising from Nintendo? Well, to be honest, it wasn't all that subtle - returning from an ad break, viewers were greeted with Wii Sports being played on the awards' big screen by Jon Stewart, supposedly keeping himself busy during the commercials.

Watched by 40 million viewers the world over, you don't get much bigger advertising than this - and it shows how universally well-known the Wii has become. No word on if Nintendo were involved in getting the product placement in there, but we'd expect big Nintendo goodie bags will be heading to Stewart this morning!
