Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime reveals Wii production is up 33% on last year, but may still not be enough to meet holiday demand...
Speaking to the LA Times, Nintendo of America's president Reggie Fils-Aime has predicted another healthy Christmas for Nintendo, with strong Wii and DS sales predicted. The two consoles have accounted for "almost 70%" of industry growth in the U.S. so far this year. What credit crunch?
In anticipation of strong sales and to avoid a third consecutive Christmas of Wii shortages, Wii production has risen from 1.6 million consoles a month to 2.4 million a month worldwide - an increase of 33%.
Even so, it has been suggested that this still may not be sufficient to meet demand, but reassured buyers that Nintendo were getting the consoles out there as soon as possible. Said Reggie:
"We're flowing products into stores on a very regular basis. Once you see it on the shelf, you ought to buy it."
You heard the man!
