Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has promised that the manufacturing of the Wii won't effect the Lite - already in short supply due to high demand.

To allay fears that the already scarce amount of Lites in Japan will be diminished to allow the production of Wiis, Iwata commented at last week's shareholder meeting that the Wii and DS Lite are being manufactured on completely different production lines.

It isn't a great shock, but it means that both consoles should hopefully be in good supply for the all important holiday season.
