Wii Virtual Console and Gamecube games to be region locked...

Following on from the disappointing confirmation that Wii games will indeed be region locked, Nintendo UK have apparently confirmed to Eurogamer that this will also apply to both GameCube and Virtual Console games.

Therefore, PAL gamers will not be able to download and play games on their European Wiis, and then play them on another territory's Wii as well.

However, this doesn't necessarily mean that gamers will only get to play titles released in Europe. It could well be that Nintendo still releases the likes of "Chrono Trigger" for the SNES and "Sin and Punishment" for the N64 in Europe, but just in European editions - with the extra languages.
