News: Wii Sales Soar 300% in Japan

The Wii has enjoyed a 300% rise in sales this week in Japan, presumably due to the new Wii Remote Plus and 25th Anniversary red hardware bundle.

In the latest Japanese charts, as reported by Andriasang, the Wii console sold 39,308 units, an incredible rise from the previous week's 11,521 units. The red 25th Anniversary, which includes New Super Mario Bros. Wii, the original Donkey Kong and a Wii Remote Plus in addition to the usual bundle, was launched in Japan last week and it appears to be doing as well as Nintendo could have hoped.

Nintendo did well with software sales as well this week in Japan. Super Mario Collection Special Pack amd Pokémon Black and White were third and forth, respectively, in the chart. Other Nintendo titles are featured in the software charts as well.
