News: Wii Slips In Japanese Charts

Not good news for Nintendo back in the homeland, as the Wii falls to fourth in the weekly charts...

Nintendo's white box of joy down is down to a measly fourth place and in danger of being overtaken by Microsoft's Xbox 360 for the second time in the last few weeks, in these figures from Media Create covering March 2nd to 8th:

  • PSP: 59,568 +23,980 (67.38%)
  • PS3: 39,835 +3,322 (9.10%)
  • DSi: 32,102 -3,725 (10.40%)
  • Wii: 16,560 -1,316 (7.36%)
  • Xbox 360: 14,994 +3,199 (27.12%)
  • DS Lite: 11,240 -534 (4.54%)
  • PS2: 4,954 -145 (2.84%)

Despite the recent launch of the DSi, Sony's PSP is resurgent in the top spot - beating both combined sales of the DS Lite and DSi combined, while Resident Evil 5 bundles have helped both PS3 and Xbox 360.
