The latest reports suggest Nintendo will release the Wii before Sony's late November PS3 launch date!

While Sony revealed at E3 the launch price and date for their PS3 console, Nintendo typically remained secretive. Saying it would launch in the fourth quarter of this year, journalists were left wondering whether this meant a date before or after the PS3's confirmed November 17 debut.

However IGN is now reporting they have heard from industry sources that Nintendo is "planning to launch Wii before PlayStation 3". Some Wii titles have got preliminary release dates of late October/Early November, so this would tie-in.

Even a small head-start could prove instrumental in drumming up support and public awareness for the Wii. We'll bring more as it happens.
