News: Wii U Online Information From Third Parties

Reggie Fils-Aime says Wii U will feature a robust online experience yet feels that information should be provided by third parties.
In a recent interview with Forbes, Nintendo's US president Reggie Fils-Aime has stated that news regarding the online features of Wii U shouldn't come from Nintendo but should instead come from third party publishers as this will be "much more compelling".
"We've said that the Wii U will have an extremely robust online experience. There will be other publishers talking about that as well, and from our perspective, we think it's much more compelling for that information to come from the publishers than to come from us."
Looking back on the Wii, Reggie has come to terms with the fact that Nintendo do need to provide more as far as online services and content are concerned and he realizes that in order to keep up with the competition, action must be taken.
"We've seen what our competitors have done, and we've acknowledged that we need to do more online... For Wii U what we're doing is creating a much more flexible system that will allow the best approaches by independent publishers to come to bear."
It seems as though Nintendo are keen to make online gaming as easy and flexible as possible for third parties to implement and Reggie is keen to reiterate this.
"Instead of a situation where a publisher has their own network and wants that to be the predominant platform, and having arguments with platform holders, we're going to welcome that. We're going to welcome that from the best and the brightest of the third party publishers."
