Jack Tretton, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America, speaks out about the Wii U and shares his views as to why he isn't worried in the slightest.
At this years E3 Nintendo shocked everyone with their innovative new console but it seems that there is no impressing some people and Jack Tretton is one of them. Tretton seems to think that the Wii U is no threat to the PlayStation brand and feels as though Nintendo are years behind.
Speaking to Forbes about the E3 reveal, Tretton said "if you're looking at high def gaming, that was so 2006 for us." Jack Tretton also feels as though this new announcement from Nintendo won't make Sony roll out another PlayStation straight away as the PlayStation 3 can hold it's place in the market just fine.
"I didn't see anything about Nintendo's announcement that said 'Oh, we'd better get working on rolling out a new PlayStation here pretty soon. Our attitude is kind of 'welcome to the party.' If you're looking at being a multimedia entertainment device, if you're looking at high def gaming, that was 2006 for us."
Sony is enjoying success with their new PlayStation Move controller released last year and are building up hype for their new portable console, PlayStation Vita, which will feature touch screen controls.
