News: Wiimote Jackets To Cost 8.4m

Nintendo's new controller covers to cost the company quite a bit...

What's worse, bad publicity from broken TVs, or a bill for 8.4 million? Nintendo are opting for the latter, with the launch of the Wii-mote "Jackets" we reported on yesterday.

Available free with each new Wii console or Remote, copies of Wii Play and online via Nintendo's official websites, the cost of the rubber casings will hopefully pay off with no more "idiot breaks TV as he lets go of Wii Remote" stories surfacing.

The costly amount - equivalent to 20 billion yen - was today revealed by a Japanese newspaper. Its no small fee, though it can be said that right now, Nintendo can afford it.
