News: Woman Dies In Wii Contest

A woman loses her life in possibly the stupidest idea for a contest we've ever heard.

Some people just can't seem to get over the urine-related jokes. American radio station KDND (The End), based in Sacramento has held a competition entitled "Hold Your Wee For A Wii", where contestants had to drink a bottle of water every ten minutes and see how long they could hold it in before they needed the toilet.

Unfortunately, a few contestants' determination to win the new Wii console saw the game lasting for three hours, with 28 year old mother of three Jennifer Lea Strange dying after consuming over half a gallon of water. You really can't make this stuff up.

Allegedly a nurse warned the radio DJ at the time of the health risks of drinking excessive amounts of water too quickly, yet the station had gotten to contestants to sign waivers and the DJ was not worried about the consequences of the game.

Strange called a co-worker to report she would not be making it into work the next day as she was feeling unwell, but was later found dead at her home. No law-suits have been filed as yet against the station, though we'll update you if we hear more.

Update: Many readers may be interested to know GameSpot is now reporting that 10 employees of the radio station have been fired due to the stunt, and an investigation is now underway. In a correction to the main article, it is now confirmed the amount of water drunk by Strange was two gallons, not half a gallon as stated above.
