THQ have announced a Wii-exclusive Worms game, developed by THQ.

The title, named Worms: A Space Oddity takes the traditional Worms formula and gives it a new style, new controls and more. Instead of the traditional drawn style of the previous games, A Space Oddity will have a new visual style inspired by classic Sci-Fi.

A Space Oddity takes place across 6 planets with unique environments and global events. The game also allows for much more customisation than before. The new control scheme features the ability to launch weapons using a wide range of gestures.

As far as game modes go, A Space Oddity will give us classic Worms modes, a new re-invented single-player mode, various multi-player modes (including "party games") and a 4-player online mode.

Worms: A Space Oddity is scheduled for release in Spring 2008.

Update: THQ have now confirmed that Worms: A Space Oddity will take place in the 2D plane, and not the recent 3D perspective. Which should please many traditional Worms fans.
