News: Wright Quits EA, Joins Stupid Fun Club

Legendary game developer Will Wright has quit his high-profile role at EA to set up a new studio!

Will Wright, creator of the massively popular The Sims and more recently Spore is quitting Electronic Arts to set up a new company - Stupid Fun Club, which will develop new gaming, film, TV, internet and toy franchises.

However Wright has not left EA behind completely, as they will own half of Wright's new company and have rights to develop anything Stupid Fun Club imagines up. Says Will:

"The entertainment industry is moving rapidly into an era of revolutionary change. Stupid Fun Club will explore new possibilities that are emerging from this sublime chaos and create new forms of entertainment on a variety of platforms.
"In my twelve years at EA, I've had the pleasure to work alongside some of the brightest and most talented game developers in the industry and I look forward to working with them again in the near future."

Wright has been a part of EA since 1997, when his games studio Maxis was bought out by the third-party behemoth. Maxis will continue as a studio now without Wright as its head.

We wish him a very happy and productive future, and look forward to seeing what he comes up with...
