News: WWE Wrestles THQ

Among the list of companies being sued is THQ, who has published fully licensed WWE titles for several years now. Toy company Jakks Pacific, however, seems to be the bigger target in the suit. THQ and Jakks were involved in a joint venture to produce video games carrying the WWE license.
The suit is based on claims that say former WWE Senior Vice President of Licensing and Merchandising James Bell and licensing agent Stanley Shenker & Associates accepted a bribe from Jakks in order to secure the rights to the joint venture with THQ. On top off that, Bell is also accused of accepting payment from Stanley Shenker & Associates to recommend that the WWE make the company its licensing agent.
WWE is seeking to void the license granted to Jakks and THQ for the joint venture due to commercial bribery and are also seeking damages. THQ's involvement isn't clear at this point, but the company could stand to lose the WWE license if details of wrongdoing emerge.
