X-Men Legends will feature over mutants and set you out to gain experience and grow as characters. In many ways it is a traditional RPG. The game dates back to over 40 years ago and features many coming of age stories for characters such as Magma. The characters inculded are Iceman, Gambit, Forge, Beast, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Colossus, Psylocke, Nightcrawler, Angel, and seven more. Players can choose four characters at a time for simultaneous combat.
Raven Software, known for Soldier of Fortune, Hexen, and Heretic, are developing X-Men Legends, their first RPG. According to Raven Software the game focuses on team-based action and strategy.
With the wide range of mutants it can create varied teams and be similar to classic PC RPG games such as Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance but allows players to unleash team-style combat. Marvel writers oey Casey (Uncanny Xmen), Steven Seagle, Joe Kelly, and Duncan Rouleau are set to write the story of the game.
Like traditional RPGs players earn experience points to level up and the most successful character earns bonus points. The areas that combats take place in are also totally destructible, adding a whole new twist to the gameplay.
