News: Xbox 360 To Copy Wii-mote Controller?

The latest on those reports that Microsoft are set to launch their own version of the Wii Remote...

Reports have been circling of a project inside Microsoft to launch a motion-sensing Wii-mote inspired controller for the Xbox 360 this year - if the project gets the green light. It has to be stressed that though MTV's source claims that the project has been in development since last summer, it is uncertain if the product will actually launch.

However, the project is far into the development stages, with reports that ironically it has been ex-Nintendo turned Microsoft developer Rare who have been tasked with creating a unified interface and look for the controller.

The controller allegedly would have a microphone and analogue stick, and be able to play Xbox 360 titles such as Halo or Gears of War. Also on the list of copied ideas is the Mii system, which Rare are designing to be more detailed than on the Wii.

More as it breaks.
