News: XLink Messenger For GameCube

The XLink Messenger, which is currently used on Xbox, will be making it's way to the GameCube.

Currently codenamed Kai, the XLink team are working on an updated version of the XLink Messenger used on the Xbox.

Initial testing for the tunnelling software ran "nice and smooth" and it looks like the software works well with the GameCube LAN games such as Mario Kart: Double Dash

The XLink Messenger has three modes; messenger, WGN and rooms. The messenger mode allows you to chat and play one-on-one, WGN hooks up the GameCubes worldwide like Xbox Live and rooms allow people to create "virtual" rooms that can either be open to the public or password-protected.

To set it up you'll need a GameCube, a LAN game, a broadband adaptor, a PC running Windows 95 or later, a broadband connection, and an network to connect the GC to your PC. The XLink team aim to have it out before the end of the year.
