Nintendo moves to deny Android NX report

Nintendo has issued a strong denial of claims that it will adapt Google's Android platform as the operating system for its next-generation video game system - codenamed NX.

A report from Nikkei yesterday claimed that Nintendo was giving serious consideration to the possibility, in a bid to win back third-party support from across the spectrum.

However, a Nintendo spokesperson today stated that "there is no truth" to the report that the company is planning to adopt Android for NX.

Nintendo is rare to comment bluntly on rumours one way or another, with the official policy always having been one of 'we do not comment on rumours or speculation'.

Nintendo has indicated already that it will not divulge details on NX this year, with this month's E3 briefing dedicated wholly to Wii U and 3DS.
