Fans have been waiting for a release date and price for the Nintendo Wii U for nearly 18 months but it seems the North American details may be unveiled on September 13th.

Nintendo of America is hosting a big press event in New York City on that day, and with the hardware and software showcased at E3 it seems the only thing left to reveal is the release information.

The invite itself states that attendees will find out "more about how the Wii U will change the future of gaming and entertainment". The last time a similar event was held Nintendo announced the 3DS release date, price (in America at least) and 'launch period' games.

Hopefully Nintendo will also use the event to showcase some third party titles as so far certain key companies have remained quiet about the system.

Nintendo of Europe usually follow suite so with any luck we should find out the European pricing and release date next month, but then Nintendo are a difficult company to figure out at times.
