Game fans in Europe have often enjoyed seeing their retailers of choice cheekily delivering their favourite new, day 1 releases a few days early on the sly, but it seems that Nintendo fans in Europe may find that luxury in jeopardy; as Nintendo of Europe look to be cracking down on retailers who are breaking street dates.
A representative of Nintendo of Europe just confirmed to Gamesindustry.biz that they are “consistently reviewing its shopping schedule' to ensure release dates across Europe are not broken”, by holding back product shipments until closer to their intended release dates.
As the article points out, this is a blow to many independant retailers who have long thrived on their unwritten promises of early releases of brand new games. While it remains to be seen exactly how this will affect brand new releases going forward, this revelation is undoubtedly an unpleasant one to the ears and eyes of fans who enjoy their cheeky early deliveries.
