Nintendo releasing 60Hz version of F-Zero on Wii U eShop tomorrow

Nintendo of Europe has revealed that it will release the US, 60Hz version of F-Zero on the Wii U Virtual Console this week.

It follows complaints about Wii U VC titles seeming to be still in the European-standard 50Hz mode. The debut Wii U VC title was Balloon Fight last month. Before Nintendo kicks off Wii U's Virtual Console properly, it is releasing one classic game on the service per month to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Famicom. The games will be offered for an ultra-knocked down price of 30 pence/cents for a limited time.

As these versions have been created specifically for the Wii U VC, they will be playable on the GamePad. Tomorrow sees F-Zero release on the service.

There is no indication of Nintendo of Europe releasing a 60Hz version of Balloon Fight, nor is there confirmation that future European Wii U VC titles will be the 60Hz versions.

This week is actually a cracking one for both Nintendo's eShops. On the Wii U side, Mighty Switch Force HD is getting a half-price sale, meaning it will be €4.99/£4.49 til the end of the month. Trine 2 gets a demo, and will also be seeing its reduced price extended. There are also demos for both 3DS and Wii U versions of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on both services. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate gets a demo on the 3DS eShop, which also finally sees the release of Nicalis's NightSky.

Both eShops are due to be updated by Thursday evening.
