NSMB2 passes a million in Japan, while Vita gets a boost

Good news might be sparse for Sony's latest handheld, but the company will surely be lifted by a rare sight this week - a Vita title topping the latest Media Create chart.

Vocaloid simulation Hatsune Miki saw moderate success on 3DS, and it looks like the game has done the trick once again on Vita, quickly becoming one of the best-selling games on the system.

Meanwhile, there was a double-jab of decent debuts for a pair of new third-party 3DS titles - the port of Atlus's Dreamcast game Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, and the latest in Marvelous's inappropriately busty but surprisingly successful Senran Kagura series.

Here's rhe full software chart for the week of August 27th to September 2nd.

A spirited surge by Vita was not enough to displace 3DS from the top of the hardware chart, and it's not clear what can realistically maintain the momentum for Sony's handheld in the coming weeks. Namco Bandai's Ultraman/Kamen Rider/Gundam cross-over Lost Heroes for 3DS and PSP might be one to watch out for next Wednesday.
