Over 30 billion coins have been collected around the world in New Super Mario Bros. 2

The UK government borrowed £600m in July, which is much more than expected. Meanwhile, residents of the Mushroom Kingdom seem to have collected a whopping 35,000,000,000 coins. It hasn't been made official, but we're pretty sure we know who the UK government are borrowing money from.

Yes, since the release of New Super Mario Bros. 2, people have really decided to step up to the challenge of collecting 1 million coins and have collectively accumulated 35,000,000,000 coins.

The number is only set to grow, as 30,000,000,000 was collected in Japan alone. Were sure when Europe start pulling their weight and have had as much time as the Japanese, we will make Mario as happy as Apple.
