Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, the legendary GameCube RPG, was re-released on the Nintendo Switch last week, with gorgeous new visuals and sound, QOL changes and the returning gameplay that everyone loves about the series.
And it seems it has been well received, as we shared in our launch article, and not only is it a critical success, but it’s a commercial one too, as Paper Mario finds itself in first place on the UK boxed charts!
Sales matched those of Paper Mario: The Origami King, the new instalment of the series that released in 2020, and surpass those of last years SNES remake, Super Mario RPG.
These stats come from Christopher Dring on Twitter/X, head of GamesIndustry.biz:
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is No.1 in the UK boxed charts. It had a bigger launch than the Super Mario RPG remaster, with opening week sales basically identical to Paper Mario: The Origami King. That’s a great result. Bodes well for Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD
