Pikmin 3 debuts at number two in UK charts

Ah Pikmin, how we have missed you. Nine long years since Pikmin 2 graced the Nintendo GameCube, finally we have a new iteration in Shigeru Miyamoto's garden based RTS game to salivate over like a Bulborb who has just woken to find one hundred tasty looking Pikmin bearing down on him. Unlike that Bulborb however, rather than wilt infront of the masses of Pikmin, UK consumers have lapped them up to take them to number two in the UK All format games chart.
Perhaps suprisingly beating it to the number one position was the Xbox 360 edition of Minecraft, which is showing similar legs to Animal Crossing New Leaf on 3DS in terms of popularity and longevity in the charts. That Nintendo game charted at number four for the second week in a row, one place ahead of Mario and Luigi Dream Team Bros, providing another succesful week for 3DS, and thankfully this week we can say Wii U as well.
What sort of impact Pikmin 3 has had on Wii U console sales remains to be seen, but with that and the retail version of New Super Luigi U debuting at thirteen this week, here's hoping the resurgence of the Wii U starts now.
