The Pokémon Company and Bandai Namco today jointly revealed the long-rumoured Pokémon fighting game based on the Tekken formula.

Pokkén Tournament will be a traditional fighting game very much in the vein of Bandai Namco's classic brawler, but featuring a range of Pokémon characters. The roster revealed so far is predictably fighter-based, with Machamp and Lucario the first to join the fray.

As of now, the game is officially announced to release in arcades - initially - in Japan next year. That said, it is already anticipated to be getting a console release thereafter.

The Pokémon Company has also revealed an English-language teaser - a good sign for those wanting a western release.
