Post-New Year blues in Japanese charts, Wii U slips behind PS3

As the holiday period has now passed, gloomy realities must be faced, and it's no different over in Japan. As the latest charts show, the video game market might not get too hot if there is little reason for people to spend.
There are absolutely no new releases breaking into the software chart once again, leading to a big decrease in sales for virtually everything. The only title which managed to keep up a respectable figure was, to no-one's surprise, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which stayed at the top.
The top 10 certainly has a distinctive Nintendo flavour to it, but the figures themselves aren't much to be proud of.
Here is the Media Create top 20 for the week of January 7th to 13th.

Things are equally flat in the hardware chart, again with Nintendo's 3DS the only platform coming out particularly decently. Wii U has now truly passed the launch honeymoon period, falling behind PS3 after big drops across the board. With the Wii U version of First of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2 the only new release of note in the near future, these upcoming weeks may get quite lax indeed for Nintendo's new system until the consistent stream of the first-party software starts to arrive.
