Retro Studios is qualified to make a Zelda title

Retro Studios, responsible for re-inventing the world of Metroid with the critically acclaimed Metroid Prime series and bringing Donkey Kong back into the limelight with Returns, are more than capable of making a Zelda game.

This is according to Shigeru Miyamoto, who spoke about the Zelda series after receiving the Principe de Asturias award in Communication and Humanities in Spain last week.

The Zelda series is now so big that Nintendo are working closely with others, such as Monolith and Grezzo, and it seems that Retro Studios may not be a bad choice for the series either.

Sadly though, it seems that it would be tricky for Retro to create the next Zelda game because Nintendo would need very close contact with them, which is hard considering Retro are based in Austin, Texas.

Miyamoto stated that being outside of Japan will make communication all the more difficult, something that is important when Nintendo handle the script and design for Zelda games.

"Even if Retro Studios is qualified, Nintendo would have to be in very close contact with the company that were to create this Zelda and, being ouside Japan, the distance and timezone differences would make the communication more difficult."

This wouldn't be the first time that a company other than Nintendo created a Zelda title. Capcom created the Legend Of Zelda: Minish Cap and the Oracles games whilst Grezzo developed the 3DS remake of Ocarina of Time.
