Rockstar open to Grand Theft Auto V on Wii U

Rockstar Games vice president Dan Houser has revealed that the publisher releasing a Wii U version of next year's Grand Theft Auto V is one of a few things "up for consideration".

In an interview with IGN, Houser was asked directly about the possibility of seeing GTAV on Wii U and PC, with the game thus far only confirmed for PS3 and Xbox 360.

It looks like the company is leaving the possibility open for the future, stating that finding a market would ultimately lead to the game being released on other platforms.

"Everything else is up for consideration. That's all I can give you. The main thing is we are a third-party publisher. We're not Nintendo, we're not Sony, we're not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there's the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market. If that's on Apple we put something on Apple. Wherever it might be. I think that's the fun in what we do. We see ourselves as a content company that uses technology. We don't make it; we use it to make the most fun stuff."

With Grand Theft Auto V currently pencilled in to release in the second quarter of 2013, it's significantly unlikely that a Wii U version would be seen launching alongside standard versions. However, Nintendo of America's president Reggie Fils-Aime has long banged the drum for the franchise on a Nintendo home system, so the company might not let this one get away so easily.
