Yep you heard right, could Assassin's Creed be following Ninja Gaiden to the DS?

Many people were surprised when Temco announced that the Ninja Gaiden franchise was set for the DS. It has in recent years been a franchise that is seen as pushing the graphical power of home consoles, you need look no further than the the beauty of Ninja Gaiden Sigma to demonstrate this. Yet it has surfaced on the DS as a highly playable and gorgeous looking touchscreen centric take on the franchise.

Assassin's Creed is seen by many as a similar sort of game, one that will push the Xbox 360 and PS3 hard in terms of graphics, so it seems unlikely it will appear on any "lesser" consoles.

The title has been rumoured as being considered for sometime, but now confirmation would seem just around the corner. American online retailer Gamestop has recently put up a page for Assassin's Creed DS and giving it a release date of 25/09/07.

Whilst it would be easy to simply dismiss this as a retailer mistake, the fact that it has a box art on the site lends it some more credibility. Obviously such things can be faked, but Gamestop's recent record at putting up game pages before they have been announced has been second to none. It was Gamestop who first helped reveal Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition and Boogie for the Wii to world after all.
