Rumour: DJ Hero Speculation Spreads

Fat Boy Slim wannabe's rejoice! The often rumoured DJ Hero may be closer to reality than we previously thought...

There has been a recent resurgence in DJ Hero rumours following Activision's recent acquisition of UK developer FreeStyleGames. It is already well known that Activision applied for a trademark for the name DJ Hero earlier this year. FreeStyleGames who are best known for break-dancing game B-Boy have been bought by Activision as part of their commitment to the music-based genre.

DJ Hero has apparently been in development for the last two years and is due to be released next year. The wireless controller for this game is like a simplified DJ Deck. There is a platter for scratching, three buttons for sampling as well as a cross fader and a sound effects dial. Instead of notes coming straight down at you as in Guitar Hero games, DJ Hero will send the music down and around an on screen record in a half arc and players will have to either hold a sample button and scratch, just hold a button or just scratch.

If all this information turns out to be true then there is a great chance of this coming to the Wii. Guitar Hero III sold more copies on the Wii platform than its competitors and Guitar Hero World Tour could repeat this success. Next year we could be spinning those decks, scratching some tunes and busting a groove while mixing in some serious tuneage on the Wii!

So far there has been no comments from Activision regarding this rumour but we will keep you posted on any developments. In the meantime scratch some of your comments into the mix below
