Rumour: GoldenEye To Feature AI Bots?

It's being reported that the imminent GoldenEye 007 will feature customisable AI bots to play with in multiplayer...

While we already knew Activision's upcoming GoldenEye 007 is to feature 4-player local multiplayer and 8-player online play, a new snippet of info has potentially come to light.

According to a video preview of the game over at The Montreal Gazette, the game will also feature "a wide selection of AI bots that you can customise". If true, this'll be the first time we've heard of such a feature, and Activision are yet to confirm it.

It could well be misinformation caused by optimism or confusion, but there may be something in it. Developers Eurocom included AI bots as an option in its 2002 Bond title Nightfire, and it was one of the most popular aspects of the game. The ability to have customisable bots in GoldenEye would certainly be neat.

Whether Activision or Eurocom confirms this or not, the game is due out in just a couple of days, so one way or another, we'll know for sure soon enough.

Update: GoNintendo are now reporting that an "inside source" has confirmed no such features are in the final game. So unless it's some sort of ultra-hardcore, top-secret unlockable, it was nice while it lasted.
