Rumour: I can't see Yu!

Mind the awful pun and read the latest rumour heading out of Sega HQ. According to several insiders, a prominent Sega designer is leaving and is about to set up his own games company. What could this mean for Nintendo?

As you might have guessed from the pun above, Yu Suzuki is rumoured to be leaving Sega's AM2 division to create his very own games company. Sega's resident game genius is reknowned for his Outrun series, and more recently hits such as Ferrari F355 Challenge and the fantastic Shenmue double.

We at Cube Europe are wary not to read too much into rumours, but this particular snippet comes from a reputable source and sounds quite exciting. Suzuki is apparently fed-up with Sega's continued restraint on his design and feels like he needs more room to create his masterpieces. Could this mean a Shenmue update on the Cube? Well, it's unlikely but never say never. Without being too sensationalist, if Suzuki-san was to create his own company GameCube development could be on the cards. Fingers crossed!

Before you crazed lunatics email me with 'clutching at straws' messages hold your breath. There might be more truth in this rumour than meets the eye. Maybe.
